Default Re: vacation in mrytle beach

Been down there many many times since the late 80's when my folks retired there. I will be there permanantly in 20 months. 90% of fishing the surf down there is bait bait and more bait. Tins and spoons work sometimes but a 5 pound bluefish is considered a monster down there. Most folks are catchign lafayettes, spots, croakers etc..basicaly panfish fromt he suds down there and again all on bait.

You can fish king macks fomr the piers but don't expect anything inthe world similar to what we have here on Long island...

Whenever I go I skip surfcasting and book a trip with Capt. Mike McDonald of Gul-R-Boy charters (Georgetown) for reds, fluke and specks...and we usually catch good numbers of fish throughout the year
