I don't know the 1st thing about fly rods , Orvis is a good company so there was the purchase . The word I can use to describe about casting with it is " effortless " the smoother you cast the rod works very well. Again I don't know much about fly lines also, so i went with the " Orvis All Rounder " shoots nicely into the wind . Only need about 7' out on the back cast . i don't get too technical about this BS . it's like buying a car or truck , I go with a Chevy it does me well. And the reel it gets wet from the surf , I run it under fresh water , take the spool off & let it air dry in the house ..dry environment .
