When I was a kid, and it had to be around 1946 because gas rationing had ended, papa used to go to upper Narragansett Bay where we would rent a boat to fish for Squeteague (grey weakfish). The rental guy used to sell us two types of bait -- mummies and shrimp. But often the rental guy didn't have any grass shrimp, only mummies. When that happened Papa used to get pissed and we would turn around and go home without fishing after a 40 mile round trip. The rental guy used to urge him to use the mummies anyway but Papa was convinced that squeteague would take only grass shrimp.
