I spend a majority of my time fishing during daylight hours or early evening hours. I lack the sleep deprivation skills needed to fish deep into the night on any kind of regular basis. I try to maximize my daytime opportunities - looking for cloudy or rainy days whenever I can. Locking into a bunch of fish at night can be magical when it happens, but I've spent too many nights casting into an empty ocean to believe that night fishing is the only answer.
With the decline of the bass population surf fishermen will be seeing lonely and quiet nights allot more frequently (sorry to say). Bluefish really cool their jets when the sun goes down.
Turbulent economic times and more stiff competition all trying to get customers approval and lack of sleep does not go hand in hand.
