IBSP mail in Buggy pass FYI

The Christmas gift I know all about every year from my parents is the permit, because I have to do some leg work. I fill out the form make a copy of my DL and registration and hand it over to Mom, and their it is wrapped up in a little box under their tree. (Think it makes her happier then me so I may just have to go get it in person) Stopped in for the form today on my way out of the park. (didnt see any signs of a fish caught from Point to the N Jetty and back to the Hook but a nice spring day) Its gotten too crazy the past few years people camping out or trying to sneak their forms in early that they are no longer selling them until they have the stickers (maybe the 18th but he wasnt 100%) and they numbers will be handed out in random order. The retired ones will stay that way. So if you mail it in before, they are returning them.

I think 32, but if a low is a sign of someone who's out a lot and knows what their doing, I'm proof that it meens nothing. Their was a good strech of time of being their on New Years, but since buying a house I think the earliest I've used the pass is late April

I've never understood the fascination with getting a low number. I always get my pass in Dec. because I fish Jan. Whether I get number one or 6001 it means the same thing.

The lower the number you get means you are the best fisher on the NJ coast, to follow you around and watch your every movement. To stalk you and video all your moves with a video camera....

Pass #1 doesn't get issued. At least it didn't used to be. I consider it kept aside for anglers who aren't with us anymore in case they need one.

Island Beach has the passes now for 2010. If you want a low number you may have to wait till Sep. since they started with 5000 and are working down.

One slow night talking to one of the rangers a few years back, he told me the first 10 were reserved every year for the first 10 people to get passes and were retired as they passed, I think at the time he said 1,2 and 4 were no longer with us. I like above reason better and hope thats the reason for #1

So be on the look out for #'s 4900-5000 the'll be the ones to stalk
They should have just picked some random # to start at like 5467

I think he may have been making that up.....I was 0002 in 2008.

As long as they let me on the beach I dont G a F.
I have been walking on more and more there over the years. I know where I want to be and usually its where the buggies cant go.

There is so much drama there and I cant stand the picket fence mentality. Rather than whine, I just go elsewhere. There are too many other areas in NJ to name that hold fish and not PITA anglers.

Dont know if I am even gonna get it this year, would rather get the town passes and drive up and down the beach chasing shelly and bob pop a bit further north

As long as I get the pass, I'm not concenred about the #. My first one three years ago was in the mid 5000's.
Without that pass I have no safe place to crash at night. I can't do the 3 hours each way thing with a full shift of fishing in between. Most towns are not going to be very welcoming of my need to climb in the back of the buggy and sleep. Two years ago I slept at Keansburg near the water on a kayak. I woke up with a dog in my face and almost wet myself.

Buddy of mine got his two days ago, said his # is in the 4000s. Guess they are reversing the order somewhat. 33hemi!

I only get my pass for the prestigious number.....if its not in the first ten, I don't think I am a good fisher.....

wowzee, I wouldn't sleep on any Raritan Bay beach I can think of, out in the open.
