Striper Fishing - Saco or Scarborough Rivers

Yep, pretty slow around the beaches, the water is a bit warm. I picked up about a dozen fish on Sunday, largest was 22", and the conditions were not optimal at all (no breaking surf, too sunny).

It's a strange season. Everyone I talk to say;s the same, no big fish, all small fish. Every once in a while you hear of someone picking up a 40" + plus fish, but I'm not seeing any fish in the high 20's or even 30" class.

Maybe the fall run will have a bigger mix of fish.

I tried to go fishing Sunday afternoon ~4:00 and couldn't find an open bait shop.....

Saco Bay Tackle, Rick's Tackle Shop and the little old lady who run's the bait shop next store to Rick's were all closed...

What's up with that? Where do you buy bait on Sundays?

The Bears Den, on Brown St in Kennebunk. It's out of his garage, white house large black bear on garage. Brown st is just south of Mousam River off Rte 1 Gas station on corner. Barry's shop is on left a short ways after sharp turn. Keep going to end and you come to Rte 9 from Wells To Kennebunkport, turn go straight across to fish Parson"s Beach, or turn left to fish the Mousm River from the bridge.

Things seem to have picked up a bit in September. I hope they stay into October... man, what a short summer!

I just moved to maine from OBX NC besides from a 180 fishing season where can I surf fish next spring?

Hey There NC to Maine! Sorry I did not see your message here 'till now! I live in Ontario, but have a place in Arundel. I also go to the OBX a couple of times a year!!

I also hang out in the RDT forum as "Mr-Jean".

There's lots of time to figure out where to fish this spring. They won't show up 'till june/july.

Where in Maine do you live?
