Default Bluefish "daisy chaining"

Not sure if this one warrants its own thread but what the heck...
I've read of bluefish that "daisy chain"...a group of them swimming in a circle and difficult to catch. Have you experienced this? Why do they do this? Any tricks to catching when this behavior occurs? I ask because we experienced a 7 or 8 fish group of 2 lb blues doing this a few weeks ago...ignored everything we threw.

Meister, I never did daisy chaining. I don't know what that means. Try a little more water in your Scotch and water. How does a person daisy chain? We could have fun with this once Mr Smarty knows what Daisy Chaining is.

I would think if a bluefish did not have feeding on it's mind then the only 2 other things it could be doing would be breeding or avoiding becoming food for a bigger blue or other fish/shark.

My experience with blues tells me they always attack from behind so swimming in a circle could be a defensive move to survive around bigger blues?

More water makes it seem like I'll have more to drink! When people daisy chain I think it's a circular "conga line"...

The 7 or 8 blues I saw were in a 5' diameter circle near bottom in about 5' of water. I was observing them from the end of a small jetty.

In a lifetime of bluefishing, 99% at night, I could never have observed bluefish behavior in the way Meister describes. I have seen bluefish feeding in the daytime but none of their social behaviours as in daisy chaining.

I've caught them day and night by different methods, and seen them feeding on different types of baitfish...mostly silversides or bunker. I'd read about this behavior(daisychaining) before but I wonder if it's rarely seen unless they're in the shallows...or in my case, looking from above (jetty). Two of my friends when we were kids looking at a lake:
Sean: "Look at ALL that water..."
Brian: "Yeah...and that's just the TOP of it!"
Ah yes...the secret life of fish...

Meister, I don't know how to respond to this. First, the DC term is something I have never heard of; second, if I don't know what you are talking about, how can I respond to keep this alive? Please keep putting up issues/question but can we drop this phucking Daisy Chain bullship. It kind of out there in Interqalictic photo-galtaic petro carbon yin-yanic .

They might be stalking bait. I have noticed that they attack as a group with a pause, then all of them go at the bait together.
