what is your best source for flat wing capes?

I see half cape prices of approx $25... wondered if that was typical

ROB.Unfortunately, it looks like the Whiting flatwing saddle well has gone dry. Between that and the hair feather craze of a few years ago, there are precious few saddles available, and many of them are going for outrageous prices. You can try Bugger packs, or any saddle patch that has a good mix of tapered, webby feathers, like the odd Metz #2 you occasionally run across. I see some on Whiting, but still not the TRUE long ones that they use to have I believe the birds are are still there but take to LONG to RAISE, an it's al about MONEY----. not QUALITY like it use to be, WHITE WATER FLYS has so called flatwing saddles an whiting still sells something like them. check E-BAY an look around some time you can find guys that still have some of KENNYS old stock an don't use any more. I have Kennys saddles, bought all he had when he sold out. but still love using them and always will. there KILLERS. look around you can find shorter lengths . you really DONT need the 12-15 ones 8-10 are great. these are still available around $33.99 full saddle GOOD LUCK GOOD TYIN

As an aside, apparently stripermoon is down and a fellow was looking around for what happened.

In the process, I mentioned Abrames "Illusions in Fly Tying" book.

I went out to look for a link where he could purchase it, and saw that
it too seems unavailable, except for these crazy prices (here on amazon
but other places it was either out of stock, or linked back to amazon, or
had a similar crazy price)Who the heck has the audacity to list a book for this price?
And who, in their right mind, would pay it?

I've not found any on ebay after a couple of searches. Can you suggest a good "search title"?

LOL wrong thread! Someone might be able to move the "offending" post later... Unless Hook, you want to discuss combining grilling prized hens to harvest good fly tying capes

Never!
...but I would correct your grammar/spelling on that last sentence...

Were you one of those guys who turned your math homework in to history class?

Sorry Hook...couldn't resist
