Default Seals and bait

OK, we know that gulls can steal your bait or plugs, but has anybody had an experience of seals chasing a bait or a plug. I usually stop fishing when I sea seals on Race Point, for instance, but sometimes they stick their inquisitive heads out just as I am reeling in the plug. Scary when you think that they may go after it and take it.

I have no experience fishing with seals. Only when hunting and we once had one take down a decoy. I'll pass to the gang.

many years ago at montauk my friend tony was bucktailing next to me,we saw seals in the water, they are there every fall. you see one or two every day.he gets a hit,his 706 is screaming,it was unbeliveable how that line was going out. unless he hooked a tuna, it had to have been a seal. he got his bucktail back, but almost got spooled.

haven't heard or seen seals going after plugs.did hear from some that a seal went after an eel.seals are smart enough to only go after a decent meal.

Our daughter got towed in her yak in Maine all over the sound. But she swears that it was a bass and not a seal. I guess if it is a seal it will surface and look at you and that did not happen.
