Talking Surf fishing Gloucester

I will be up there in late July or early Aug. I love to fish for anything. I do want to hit a big striper. But I would love to catch any saltwater fish that are good to eat. I fish for everything but this is new to me. I have fished the surf in NC and SC but I dont know what all I can use from fishing down there. I want to go out on a head boat and fish for Cod or Tuna or something. Anything. I need all the input in the world on what to fish for in this time frame. Thanks in advance!

Default Re: Surf fishing Gloucester

One of my favorite vacation spots, and I bring the rod along.

I have had success north of town, I think they call it Bass Rocks. Nice little shore line drive. Plenty of great rock casting. Be careful, slippery when wet and wouldn't want to get tossed around in the surf by those ledges. Also from what I remember parking is tough.

I did a bit of flyFishing around Cape Ann Motor Inn, stayed at the inn so parking was easy. Down the beach from the Inn is another rock structure sticking out into the surf. Never hooked up there but, have seen folks surf casting who have.

Enjoy, its a great area.
