One of my favorite vacation spots, and I bring the rod along.
I have had success north of town, I think they call it Bass Rocks. Nice little shore line drive. Plenty of great rock casting. Be careful, slippery when wet and wouldn't want to get tossed around in the surf by those ledges. Also from what I remember parking is tough.
I did a bit of flyFishing around Cape Ann Motor Inn, stayed at the inn so parking was easy. Down the beach from the Inn is another rock structure sticking out into the surf. Never hooked up there but, have seen folks surf casting who have.
Enjoy, its a great area.
