Question Two Handed Rod On Boat?

HI,
I am an average caster with a one handed fly rod. Fishing off my boat gets frustrating at times. I practice a lot. I recently picked up a two handed rod for the surf. I cast it with ease and was wondering is it practical to use a two handed rod on a boat?

Thanks

Cordorj,

None of us here at Shore Catch reallly use two handed rods. Mainly becuase we have never really seen or had the need for them where we fish. I can see where you have a nice casting advantage in the surf , however from the boat I would imagine they would be cumbersone and difficult to handle.

Tell me more about your struggles/frustrations with the 1 hander - Maybe we can help offer sime insight there? From a practical standpoint, and In My OPINION, the one hander is the better chouce from the boat.

Hope this helps

Gene,
Thanks for the response. I actually fished with you in Oct. I am a decent caster just not consistent. I have trouble with the double haul. I never know how much line to have out of the guide to reduce the number of false casts. It is really just the finer points and sometimes it just feels like work and difficult to cast. Like I am putting to much effort into it.

Thanks
Gary

I am fishing with you later this month.
