Just had a huge mass removed from my back yesterday... If complete Spinal Fusion two years ago hasn't stopped me this surely won't . Looking forward to a better year after the healing process is through .
Good luck to all of you ! Fishing is a nice clean sport, an addiction for some of us .

Get well soon brother. You have time before the run starts and need to be in full health to handle that fish of a lifetime that's waiting for you.

Bill, the inlet (USCG Station) reached a high of 44 on Wednesday. Last two days it's been holding at 40. The runoff from this snow probably won't raise temps either

We do have very warm temps next week though, which should help a little. Can't believe it will be around 70 on Wednesday.

Bill,

I've been a bit out of touch meteorologically this year, but average ocean temp in Atlantic City for March is 42, however I don't have the full table handy... Maybe I can find that later.

So, even with mild winter, we've had just enough snow and ice, and sustained cold, to get the ocean down to near normal, after that warm stretch in December !

I had confidence in you Thanks. Hope with the warmth next week it will creep up. My current plan is to make my first jetty/back bay cast the weekend of the 17th-18th

That should work... this week will kick the temps up. edit: should add the usual early season kicker, look at the tide/time of day temp cycles and usually more activity happens after the flood on a sunny day, so that you get that warmer water dumping out past your favorite spot.

Last year we had that extreme cold in February into March and things really did start late. I remember going for tog end of April on a perfect day, with perfect water conditions. Not a sniff, the ocean was still mid-40s. But the resident bass up the river had in fact already started moving because, well, that's what they do.

This year looks to be more "normal" to me, and barring some polar vortex that shuts everything down, our regular back and front schedules should hold.
