I then put the peanut on and caught the next sorta keeper.
I always wondered how quickly a released fish would bite again. Would have been awesome if the fish was tagged you could confirm it.

I remember reading somewhere that most fish have a very short term memory. With blue sharks you can release one and it will have another hook bait in its mouth within a few minutes. I saw an underwater video of a cod eating a bait on a long liners hook. He fights to get off the hook and eventually succeeds only to come right back and eat the same exact bait with the hook in it again. Makes you wonder if we don't overthink things at times.

Any fluke rod recommendations under $150? I'll be pairing it to a battle II 4000
I love my freshwater 7' Avids. I fished with my friend's saltwater version (the new turquoise colored blanks) and it was amazingly light and sensitive. Another good option is the Steelhead rods.

Fished Saturday with Peter Douma and Rui Goncalves. I had somewhat high expectations as conditions were good but for some reason the fluke fishing was much slower than it has been (seemed that way for everyone based on reports). We scraped up 9 keepers on the day plus a weakfish that was safely released.

Made it out for a solo mission without my wingman ,,, haha ! I beat up the short fluke for hours only one was a tape measure job . 37 fish only one was like 17" . Was a bit tricky trying to get down through all the hickory shad ( Basstard ) and seagulls , also had couple bluefish full of peanuts very fun on the Mojo inshore

The guy next to me was using green gulp and two of my shorts spit up green gulp tails and I was using white ;( hope I didn't catch same fish 37 times lol

Nice catching Dan, you'll get that keeper yet. Down here in cape may the grass is so thick, don't know how these guys catch anything down here. Skunk for me this morning, did see two weakies caught, one at 18" the other at 23"

Outgoing at the hook this evening. 6 shorts and one robin. Biggest was a fat 17 that punched above its weight.

The one was like 15/16" but the second one was probably 4 pounds he hit a missed cast when I was cranking it back in about 30 feet from the acre of hickory shad I was trying to avoid

Hey fellas, I'm looking for a little advice. Is there a false albacore/bonito run in the surf at the Hook? It looks like that would be a blast, not unlike the pacific Mackeral/bonito light tackle fishing I used to do many years ago in Southern California. Thanks, Rich.

Got out for a second chance to do some catching down cape may. Managed a few short fluke on gulp and caught 7 weakies on gulp and one of my shrimp teasers. Also watched the guy next to me land a bull or dusky over 5'.

Yes but later in the season. Usually end of August. It's a short window and they are usually more oceanside just out of casting reach.
We get into em good on the kayaks mostly tossing small deadly dicks and avas with green tail, sometimes trolled up as well.
They can be caught off of the sand, right place, right time as with anything.
