Default newer model ford explorer or expedition?

I can get a great deal on ford and was wondering if any of you have a stock newer model ford explorer or expedition (2005 or newer) and how it does on the beach especially soft sand?

I have an '07 Explorer and it is fine in the mud or snow, but I am thinking that different tires might be better for sand. I have only driven it short distances in sand and it was OK.

my biggest concern is if there is enough ground clearance in loose soft sand.

I see plenty of them at IBSP, and rarely see them stuck. I think they have about the same clearance as my Cherokee, and I have never got that stuck either. Have full time 4WD, know the limitations of it, and your driving ability, and you should do fine...

I do, an 06. never had a problem, it prefers 15lbs, at 18lbs it acts a little 'loose'. drove from A7 to the pocket many times never a problem including some pretty sof sand, like entering a7 and 23 from the north side

That's what I run. Even with a bazillion pounds of crap and gear hanging off of every available rack, handle, and hitch, we've never had a problem. Ground clearance is fine, although I have plowed sand a few times in the really deep ruts.
