Default Re: Circle Hook Knot for Stripers

Circle hooks are all I use these days. No more gut hooked fish... less harm to a fish that is most likely to be released and I don't have to cut my line to tie on a new hook....less wasted time.
I like the way the hook seems to always end up catching on the same place on their upper lip.. less trouble than a deep hooked fish IMO.

If I'm tying leaders in my shop I like to tie the hook with a snell knot. In the field fishing at night I tie an improved cinch....easier to tie...with fogged up glasses.

Your getting old, Bob. Also, you should not be tying leaders when your wife thinks you are working.
