I stand by "relative handful", insignificant in the big picture. Take out the suicide factor and gun deaths are even less significant. Strict rules = fewer gun deaths....not so sure about that, just using Chicago as an example. Like most crimes, diseases, premature deaths gun deaths are highest in urban areas where people staked upon people don't seem to have the same values as those allowed to breath some fresh air.
I also stand by my point about abortion. It is not just a woman's issue ...it is a human issue and a legal issue. If we are talking pure numbers of deaths nothing competes with abortion. It was created as a form of controlling certain populations and continues that way today.
If the NRA endorses and supports pro 2nd amendment candidates it is their right to do so and the desire of their members to support them. As for buying legislation, again, check out those stats and you will find the amount spent by the NRA is relatively small compared to many other industries and associations.
By the way, in NC one requires a permit to purchase a pistol. Since pistols are the most common tool of gun shootings and murders I think that requirement is judicious and not lax. NC is one of many states where open carry is legal.....and you won't find stats on shootings by open carry because it is statistically insignificant. Again the shootings that occur in NC are concentrated in a few urban areas.

This guy, Raku, has no concerns about gun laws except to take them away from others who are effected. He does not hunt, shoot targets or otherwise have a horse in the race. Its common that people who are not effected by something have all these opinions in opposition. People who don't play golf oppose golf courses.

I keep remembering the people who bought cheap land to build houses right next to a pig farm, Then they bitch about the smell of pig sheet and demand that the farm be closed down.

Many of us already knew it but it has been officially announced in the NRA publication that Marine retired LtCol Oliver North is the new president of the NRA. It was he who was laughed at when he went before Congress prior to 9/1/1 to warn that Osama Benladen was one of the most dangerous men on earth. semper fi
