Why are you installing drivers? Aside from your printer and maybe a monitor installations are automatic because most programs are packed into a .DMG file. 90% of the time all you have to do is open the .DMG and move the program icon to your Applications file folder.

The Logitech v470 Bluetooth mouse.... For one.

Second a netgear power line extender for my weather station.

So far neither of these will work, I'm returning the mouse and just getting an apple.

well...slowly navigating through the process of "learning" the mac.

I just dont have enough time at home to really dig in... that said... I'm getting there.

Still haven't gotten the netgear powerline extender to work, and I gave up on the logitech mouse... picked up the apple wireless mouse and it's working great (even enabled the 2 button mode)

Set my wife up with her beloved seamonkey in order to access email (after trying for several days to get her to use the built in mail app) and have safari home page setup for her "bing"... Thus she can "send texts" (er, read that as sending email) to her friends and shop, her two passions in life LOL.

Have the logitech solar keyboard and it's working great as well.

Just need to see about getting M$ office setup, and some video/audio/sheetmusic/music tab apps setup and I'll be good.

Bob, do you run boot camp, or a virtualized solution for Windows apps?

Was wondering if I need to bite the bullet and purchase Word (since I hate pages, believe it or not) for the mac or is there some solution like installing a virtual Win 7 + MS Office that I already own?

btw, can't get the netgear powerline usb extender to work on the mac mini, and their support s u x, but everything else on the mac is great, so eh... guess I'll live

Exclamation Re: Microsoft Releases New Internet Explorer for WIndows 8 Logo!

Rob
I run Parallels (virtual Windows desktop) in COHERENCE mode. That means I can have all Windows programs and all Mac programs running at the same time. It hides the stupid Windows desktop, making it much easier to jump from program to program.

http://tinyurl.com/mu259ae

Works perfectly and rated highest of all virtual Windows programs. Parallels creates a "virtual" Windows only disk on the C: drive. My C: Drive is 500MB, has both Apple iOS & applications plus the Windows "virtual" program disk with MS Office. I have 350GB FREE space! Note that the "requirements" for Parallels says a 700MB hard disk.

I bought Parallels at "OWC," very good company specializing in Apple. Lots of information and Lifetime Warranty on RAM sticks: http://eshop.macsales.com/item/Parallels/PDFM9XL/

Shop around, you should be able to get Parallels for $50.

I run Windows 7 Ultimate edition and use the deluxe MS Office Suite.
You will need to install AntiVirus software for Windows, Parallels comes with a trial of Kaspersky (I think) but once the trial was done I installed AVG Free for Windows.

Keep me informed, I'm thinking about adding a Mac Mini since my wife won't let me buy the new Mac Pro desktop.

Thanks, Bob. Saw Parallels referenced out on the web somewhere and was hoping you'd have first hand experience!

Parallels is awesome.

On the other hand, this man was clearly fed up with Windows:

"Fed Up" Colorado Man, 38, Busted For Killing His Computer In Cold Blood

A Colorado man who has been “fighting with his computer for the last several months” unloaded a volley of shots into his Dell tormentor, resulting in the death of the computer and him being cited for discharging a firearm, cops report.
According to the Colorado Springs Police Department, officers responding last night to a 911 call about shots fired discovered that a “fed up” Lucas Hinch took his computer into a back alley and “fired 8 shots into the computer with a handgun, effectively disabling it.”
Hinch, 38, was cited for discharging a firearm within city limits, according to a police blotter entry that includes the summary description “Man Kills His Computer.”
When asked about the shooting, Hinch told TSG, “I just had it,” adding that he tired of the balky computer’s “blue screen of death.” Hinch said that he whacked the computer with a 9mm Hi-Point pistol recently purchased from a Craigslist seller. The gun was seized by police, who left the computer behind.

even with a mac mini, I go crazy.

apparently, the combo of atlantic city press's "e-edition" and firefox causes havoc on the mac mini. If I leave that page open, it must slowly consume resources (not sure what plug-in that ACpress uses) and hang up the mouse and/or keyboard drivers or something...

gaaaaaaaaaah.
