well in a sample of one game, the Mets additions worked out. Both guys can hit and that was our biggest problem. I really liked Conforto in Spring and he just has that look of a driven hustling player who makes contact at the plate. Check his evasive slide at home. I'm hoping he stays since his type of play is what we need. offense is contagious and D'Arnaud back soon

of course, and the wildcards of "health" for tex, 'roid, and others in general.

The Mets have a 2 game "winning streak" going (though they tried hard to stop it yesterday )

The Mets just got the Yankee Clippard from the A's. This has to be a deal to precede another deal. They don't really need more pitching, bull pen or starting.

Every transition this time of year is a crap shoot , Mets are rolling the dice on the Clippard arm. Who knew Colon would be a strong arm during this year ? Hoping Conforto is handled correctly He is here let him play & be who he is & not pick up any bad habits.

Conforto looks like a real player; that at bat vs Grienke where he worked the count full and got hit to send in a run was a veteran at bat; maybe he can lead off and Grandy goes to number 2; maybe the Clippard move is to allow the young starters to only have to pitch 6 and go to Parnell, Meija, Clippard and Familia to take pressure off the young arms; I notice Syndergard goes tonite which might set him up to go Sunday night vs Nats; Harvey, DeGrom and Noah for weekend

Bill not to burst your bubble or take anything away from Conforto Grienke was not Grienke ...He did not sleep for 3 days following the birth of a new born...Mets got lucky that day. Just hoping the young arms are strong enough when doubleheaders from rain outs come along something not seen much this year. Alot has be said about playing basic baseball for the Mets ...little things hurt.

The at bat vs Grienke with the bases loaded was still at great at bat for a kid in 3rd game vs a great pitcher; he worked the count. took some close pitches and stood in and got hit to drive in a run; it was a veteran at bat from a kid in his 3rd game

Mejia may not be eligible for post season play because of the drug suspension. If that is the case it explains the move for Clippard.

2x's for Mejia
very exciting night for both clubs & different games . Going back & forth between Yanks down by 5 in the 1st showing the comeback of clutch hitting & the spectacular mound work of a 4 hitter by Mets pitching surely a treat.

Tuesday's game marked the first time since April 10, 1999, that each starting pitcher allowed at least five runs, while recording no more than three outs. On that night, former National League Cy Young Award winner Dwight Gooden yielded five runs in just two-thirds of an inning for the Indians, while Twins starter Benj Sampson gave up six runs in one frame. As for Tuesday night, Yankees starter Chris Capuano was tagged for five runs in just two-thirds of an inning, while Rangers starter Martin Perez conceded eight runs in one-plus inning of work.

....

...Moreno actually earned the win, thanks to the Yankees' offensive onslaught... In doing so, Moreno became the first reliever to throw at least 5 1/3 hitless, scoreless innings and earn the victory since June 6, 1987, when Hall of Famer Dennis Eckersley turned the trick against the Indians. Eckersley retired all 18 batters he faced, as the A's rallied from a 4-0 deficit to win, 6-4.

The Mets house will be rockin' when the Gnats come in.

What an August for NYM/Y... will September hold up?

ESPN: not official has Cespedes from Tigers to Mets; a big bat and an even better defensive left fielder; if true this is huge; now need to see if and when Matz comes back this year

They did good and they didn't give up as much for him as they would have for Gomez.
