glad to see Mets picked up a 7th inning guy from Arizona; know nothing about him but they are working on the problem

Washington loses again; 6 1/2 with 30 to go; Nats need to go 20-10 to have any shot; can't wait to see Matz; my hope is to win Division before final series with Washington so Mets can just try to set up rotation for playoffs and not have to worry about the last series; this is really fun

History shows the Washington Senators lost 27 games in the month of Sept.

w/ 12-5 lead 8th inning Joe pulled rookie ( just called up Rico Noel ) off of the on deck circle & was pinched hit for by Jose Pirela You can see the kid was excited for his 1st MLB at bat , the Yankee booth & bench was speechless. What a $hit move by this BJ .

REFSNYDER
MLB.com ranks Refsnyder as the Yankees' No. 6 overall prospect. He had a four-game stint with the team in July in which he went 2-for-12 (.167) with a homer and two RBI. Questions about the converted outfielder's defense remain, but he's considered by many to already be a capable major-league hitter, despite his rough second-half at Triple-A.
BAILEY
A Haddon Township native, Bailey hasn't pitched in the majors since suffering a major shoulder injury with Boston in 2013. He was an All-Star with Oakland in 2008 and 2009, and he's been in the Yankees' system rehabbing since the start of the 2014 season. Bailey, 31, had a 2.19 ERA in 12 1/3 innings since being promoted to Triple-A.
ROMINE
Romine, Pazos, Bailey and Noel aren't on the current 40-man roster, which means more moves will be coming from the Yankees.
Romine got the call because catcher Gary Sanchez, the Yankees' No. 7 overall prospect, went on the minor-league DL recently with a strained hamstring. Romine's seen time in parts of three major-league seasons.
PAZOS
Pazos, 24, forced his way into a big-league audition by dominating Double-A and Triple-A this season. Pazos had a 1.09 ERA in 33 innings at Triple-A, striking out 10.1/9 IP.
PIRELA
Pirela will compete with Refsnyder for innings at second base, but he can also play the corner outfield spots and some third base. He had a hot spring training at the plate, but hasn't performed well in the majors.
COTHAM
Cotham, a 27-year-old rookie, can thank his recent transition from a starting pitcher to a reliever for his call-up. He's already seen work in two games for the Yankees.
NOEL
Noel, 26, likely won't get a single at-bat in September. Instead, the Yankees will try to use his speed on the basepaths. He's 23-for-28 in stolen-base attempts in the minors this season.

looks like even getting a chance at the batters box was a big deal for the kid!

If you know the kid is called up to be the running position / knowing he don't hit why was he put in the circle ?He was entered in the field , not like he was a threat for changing the Sox pitcher. It was an embarrassing thing for a pro mgr. to do . A lot of guys who played w/ Joey are not so supportive of his moves . The kid was lucky to been called up , as one game in the bigs your pension is active

I think Joe's contemporaries never liked the fact that he didn't treat them like the prima-donas they thought they were, Posada in particular, and being a catcher and all.

Face it, no manager who played with his players at one time can both be liked and be a good manager.

Does Joey G make good moves all the time? no way.

In this particular case, I don't know what was going on, didn't see it, but it wasn't like he put an over the hill bum in for the kid, it was another call-up that went in.

once again, Scott Boras proves to be one of the 2 or 3 biggest jerks in sports. Mets are in playoff race for first time in7-8 years and he waits until there are less than 30 games to go with a 5 game lead to announce his plans for Harvey's innings...he needs to make it about himself....always; may he get a month long case of laryngitis
