if you don't mind a long walk, the ponds behind Sandy Hook between the bay and Skeleton Island can hold fish. but its a long walk. Park by the missile, wak up to the entrance about a 1/4 mile or more to the trailon the bayside then walk to the ponds along the bayshore. high tide necessary. no guarantees....

Dinks were abundant today for me in somoco. Almost every cast I caught a fish or got bumped . Ended up with 39 or so with several doubles. last 2 hrs of incoming. nice west wind, a little chilly but if you're busy it doesn,t matter. When the lights went out they went to sleep. I needed it after several below par days.

Heading over this morning to try to meet some of those youngsters in Seaside or IBSP.
It'll be chilly, but the winds are sweet, 0 to 5 from the NW.

heard multiple reports yesterday from Sea Girt north; big numbers of small bass on small plugs, small metal lips and plactics; everyone had double digit catches in a short time; light rod and small baits.....lots of fun if you dress warm with glove liners

Out tonight again in the snow. Same MO as yesterday. SOMOCO. bite started 1 hour later than yesterday. (tide was almost 1 hr. later go figure) Once they started it was just as good as yesterday although not as long. Again, when the lights went out they went to sleep. 20 tonight on any tiny bait. 2" rubber shad. tiny FW yo-zuri crystal minnow, and small mag darters. a couple on HM surf candy teaser. Good meeting you Jersey... I was the only kook out there tonight. 3"s of snow on my truck when I left

I wouldn't consider this a spot burn I don't see too many people running down there in this 22 degree weather

Friday only a little joy for me at Seaside and IBSP. 4 rats. The air was pretty cold but I didn't really have any problems staying warm with a gentle west wind. I left the house without my waders which really cramped my fishing. Ice on the guides and on my bail roller was more of a problem which resulted in one wicked wind knot.

Tomorrow's weather (47F!) and tide situation is looking very fishable...

What's the concensus: should I try the same area or more north? Belmar is the absolute quickest place for me to get to, but I really liked the topography of the beach with all it's troughs and cuts that I saw around Seaside and IBSP.

Cheers all!

Fished in my footprints from the last 2 times out this A.M. Hot bite just before light. 13 little guys numerous misses. East wind at start and switched to North rapidly. all on white mag darter with red head. didn't have confidence of reaching the zone with my reliable orange and rust paddle tail grub with that persistent East wind although why change when somethings working

Finally went out and did some fishing on the foot...kayak is winterized waiting for March or April...paid a visit to SH and then moved south in MB county...6.30am until 2PM...as everybody else has been reporting there were a lot of little guys up to 20" on paddle tail grubs and small plastic lures...caught around one dozen...temps around 32F but since not too much wind it did not feel that cold...bite got better when the water started to move during outgoing tide and died off when the water got low...the water was very clear and you could see little bass chasing your lure in the wash...otherwise no signs of life or birds in the distance...got excited when a party boat stopped several hundred yards off the beach to try for bass...the captain must have marked some fish there ...but nothing happened...did not see anybody on the boat connect...enough fun to go again this week

Did you flush the tank and tranny?
I thought you just turned a kayak over and walked away for a few months or brought it into the garage if you had space for it.
