Trip #3 on Saturday 4-29-2018 from the kayak...6am to 12.30 pm...Raritan Bay...foggy, overcast conditions, high tide 7am ...perfect ...air in mid 50 to mid 60ies...water 53F...ocean was like a mirror but without GPS you could get easily lost ... never seen so many kayakers in the parking lot ( probably 30-40 cars)...everybody heard abut good reports from the day before and wanted to get piece of action...5 minutes after getting on the water I started to mark fish and got my first 27" bass on x-rap...fish were everywhere...depth 12-15ft...at the end caught 14 bass with only 3 shorts...the biggest fish was 34-36" ( estimate) ....most of the big fish came on 6oz white mojo and 3 oz yellow body bucktail... perfect day ...now, the next steps are blue fish...did not seen one yet but they will soon be here...God helps us

We fished early saturday 5:30am-10am. Boat was on water by 5:45 and the fog was insane. Saw tons of kayakers right outside my marina doing their thing. Drove by slowly and headed out into the bay. After about 1.5 hrs of trolling 10 fish with 9 keepers. Largest fish were 40in (2 of them). Kept 2 for the table (1 for me and 1 for my bud). All the bigger fish were safely released to swim another day! We had our limit after about 30 minutes then played catch and release the next couple hours. Mojo tandem rigs were the ticket yet again. Hoping this warm weather will make the fishing even better! Can't wait till the weekend!

Hey Tuga, What a fine morning of fishing! How deep were you fishing and where in relation to bottom? I'm trying to learn more about this trolling business. Thx!

Hey bud! I was trolling in about 15-20ft of water. I have a line counter on my reel so what i normally do is i drop line with boat in motion (as slow as possible) and let it go out to about double of what my depth is. Once i do that i drag to feel the bottom and crank up the reel one or 2 times. That usually puts the heavier mojo a couple of feet off bottom and the trailing mojo probably a bit higher than middle of water column. This is what I do, i am sure others troll differently but i have been successful with this!

I hit a MoCo beach for the incoming on Sunday 3PM-7PM, and did not even get a tap.
With the wind blowing from the west, the bite was in shutdown mode. The wind was great for casting, not so much for catching.

Last couple days have treated me well. Good weather and lots of quality fish. Unfortunately, i have not broken the 30lb mark. I either get a fish with girth or length, but not both. Take a look at those brooms!
The fog light in the sky has not slowed them down by any means.
At the moment the hardest part is knowing what they want. One minute they're slamming gliders and the next they want bunker chunks.
