Wow ..that covers the gas and expenses plus you have some extra money for drinks afterwards...

One fish per vessel per day?...In other words if fishing is so hot can you come back the same day and try to get another fish?...or it takes too long to get to the fishing ground?

my guess is the Capt keeps the Tuna because of the commercial tag , the charter can have the head & tail meat which is still good . As far as $$$ arrangements must be up to the boat when you sign the liability agreement before sailing . I'm just interested in knowing but none of my business if its kept between them.

Thanks for sharing & congrats !

In my case these are not charter trips; I am hoping on and lending an extra hand to help them commercial fish. I don't pay for any expenses, and I don't get a share in any of the fish or money.

I am more than happy to come along for the ride and gain the experience from one of the best captains in the business.

Zoran, the regs are constantly changing as this is one of the most regulated fisheries out there. Last year when I was there the regs were 3 fish per vessel per day. This year they are only 1 fish per vessel per day (for commercial fisherman).

The commercial season just closed on 3/1 so most of the guys down there switched over to charter fishing. You can go down now and book a charter but they are all catch & release on any BFT over 73".

If anyone is thinking about heading down shoot me a PM and I will guide you to the right people.

Extended forecast, Atlantic Highlands. Mid 40's for next week through Sunday. Anybody tired of this cold weather yet?

Does this mean the spring fisheries are all going to start late this year?

I know the herring are running already, and where herring are, the stripers are.

Agree; have never been a fan of clams and bloodworms and sitting; but for those who are I know it works; just not for me; was going to try small plastics early next week but Weather looks pretty chilly; my records show schoolies caught with regularity the third week in March last two years but I want a little more warmth; good luck to all; can’t wait for the pics to start

I'm still itching to catch White Perch. Unfortunately, I'm a tree guy working in Princeton, with nearly too much of a good thing to deal with after the two recent weather events. I can dream though.
My first trip exploring for Shad I tried out the Delaware at the beginning of the month. No Shad, but I did catch my first ever Walleye ever, 24", maybe 4.5#.
Soon, soon, soon...

Dow in Naples florida. Have been consistently catching large mouth bass all day on x raps and the like swimming lures.
Nothing huge, mostly cookie cutter teen sized bass. Had 2 that went a solid 3.5/4 lbs.
Had one unknown fish hit like a freight train, rain me into a storm drain and bent me out and another good hit with a steady drag pull for 30 seconds before it let go.
Peacock bass have been non existent. Locals say Irma destroyed the fishery. There were more talapia on beds on the previous years and this year they are scarce as well as the grass carp.
Red tide has the ocean all messed up, dead fish on the beach and horrible air quality has beach goers coughing.
Few more days to play with the toy bass and hopefully the big bass and blues will show soon when I return home.
