I'm hoping to get out one day next week and try my luck in the Barnegat Bay. I'll be wading sod banks, I expect. So, here's my question for the committee:
Should I head for water farther from the inlet that's probably had more time to warm up, or go for more familiar areas on the back side of IBSP?
I had a couple places recommended to me that I've never tried before on the western shore and suspect that this might be a real good time to go explore them.

Scouted Sandy Hook this morning at the top of the outgoing. Took my fishing rod along just for giggles. Not a lot to report. Notably, the Nor'Easters actually seem to have done a nice job sculpting the shore line. Excellent soft structure everywhere. Beautiful bars, nice holes, pronounced cuts and rips. It was a series of textbook examples of "how to read the beach". Really nice to get out there. Saw no bait, and few birds.

Got out this weekend and played with some bass. 2 biggest were 29" and 27". Most were around 20". Caught on a variety of lures. Hopkins, mag darters, sp minnows, poppers, and gliders.
Best part was watching some of the bait guys faces as a buddy and i hooked up on decent fish using lures while they had 10" fish on worms. lol
