Wow! I triggered a gusher of sea robin nostalgia.
Thanks for the good words, Bayyakker. There's so much to learn!

Lots of history buried in those bayshore mud flats. Weathered and rounded off bricks that were destined to build the first Catholic church at Keyport, before the barge was sunk by, saboteurs of another faith, circa 1920. Old lattice from notched tree branches used for duck blinds lay, preserved by the salt. USA s first amphibious planes took off from Aero Marine. I use their old water tower to triangulate the obstacles. So much to observe while casting and wading. Enjoy but tread softly!

Due to the "bad" weather over the weekend, i decided to take a ride on Friday evening after work. Got to dock around 5PM and was trolling 15 minutes later. Wife and I trolled RB for about 2 hours with only one hit but no hook ups. Lots of boats putting their time in trolling but didn't see anything come up either. Guess it's time to blow the dust off the fluke rods....

Since Friday the blues have been good to me in the Belmar area. No spot burn as they are everywhere now. Hopkins and sp's minnows doing the trick.
Picked a keep bass at night way north of that in the back on a clam.

Steady pick of blues down south. SPs and metals. On Sunday a young man family friend got on jetty in a good NE wind with water washing over. Got his biggest fish ever s 15 lb blue on an SP. now he understands that a fish like that is always better in snarky conditions. Now working to get him his first keeper bass. He did get a 24in Sunday

Only had a short window, tried the hook ocean side around 630. Cross wind was blowing harder then forecasted. After about 15-20 minutes relocated to hide from the wind. Found tons of bunker which was nice being that I haven't really seen them on my last few trips. Tried lures, snag & drop, & chunking. No takers, but couldn't stay long either, only about 45 minutes-1 hour. Today's mission was blues & kicking myself in the arse after reading Dave s report. I drove an hour to get skunked, belmar is half that distance for me

thanks... I was just there Friday, and while I didn't try the actual inlet, ran all the way up to it.

the new 4runner seems to take things in strides (though there are some r e a l rutty soft areas that I was able to get around due to being off high tide)

I'll be back later this week.

Got out last night from 7:00 - 8:15 - middle of MoCo. South wind was blowing much harder than anticipated, which cut the trip short. Threw the bag and didn't have any takers. Got out this past weekend and had a few shorts in the same area on the Magdarter.

I just got chased off the beach by mother nature. Did have a nice 20 minute window before I started sewing lightning in the distance. Was very confident I'd manage a blue or bass, ocean was pretty clean & very bass-like
