eek Re: 2017 Tropical Storm Thread

I don't really want to mention this, but there is some double-whammy effect coming from Jose to some of the islands that will be still recovering from irma:

This is Simpson Bay St Maarten ( Dutch side ) Princess Juliana Airport facing west .

Bottom left beach was all small resorts 1 & 2 stories beach houses mostly wood structure . I fished the am along this beach about 3/4 miles , Snook, Bonefish , Jacks . Tarpon A the beginning of the run way is the world famous Sunset beach ( extreme west ) where planes would low land ( coming straight at you ) world's most dangerous landing . Hurricane Louis 1995 wrecked this Island & the rebuilding was still continuing . The point about 2 o'clock was very good flats for small Barracuda & Bones .Its hard to see for my family as we have friends on the Island . They are beautiful people strong with the belief of God . I pray for their strength

Doesn't look like many wood structures fared well!

Hope they get a lot of help rebuilding.

About 1o'clock is where Trumps mansion is located . This end of the island was much rebuilt from Hurricane Louis . French side is ripped apart and many towns are gone .

Key West's Hemingway House Almost Certainly an Irma Casualty

Exclusive Details
The legendary Ernest Hemingway home appears doomed ... an almost certain casualty of Hurricane Irma ... this according to local law enforcement.
The Key West home -- made of wood and built in the 1850's -- sits about 16 feet above sea level, which is the highest point on the island. Law enforcement tells us they're expecting at least 15 feet of water to flood the area ... so the outcome is bleak.
The Hemingway Home's manager, 72-year-old Jacqui Sands, has already said she's staying put to maintain the home and its 55 or so roaming cats. Jacqui and some staff are boarding up and bunkering down.
If Jacqui or her staff are injured, cops say they'll be left to fend for themselves, because hospitals, ERs, rescue crews and other government assistance will not be available.
A farewell to Hemingway?

Hemingway's 18" block construction really helps also
Local prison on north Island is also a safe refuge.

Everyone is focused elsewhere but I've seen no indication Jose will impact us

long shot ...Irma has been traveling more west along Cuba"s south east shoreline , as it moves west the last 12 hours .

Can it continue North West of Cub's shoreline & head to Mexico Yucatan Peninsula instead of Florida ?

The models use the upper level steering currents to determine the path and they are converging on the west coast of Florida... the eye can still be off from the predicted track but I don't think it's taking a radical shift west at this point
