I expect it to undo a lot of the beach replenishment crap, so expect to see the dredges and pumps all next summer as well.

If I learned one thing from Irma it's the fact that projected paths don't mean a whole lot. 10-15 hrs. before landfall is when they have a relatively accurate forecast.

my friend in St Maarten just called they are alive , her & her sister & 5 others were in the bathroom while 192 mph winds blew the roof off, little water damage ( as they were @ high ground ) house is ok it was concrete really can't get anything to them now maybe in days to come . What she can't really do without is her glasses they blew away . My friends are , hard workers , honest & loyal people, church going ( Mary Star of the Sea Catholic Church ) as our conversation came to an end she said " we will get by with what were have ".

Me too, it's just a small place... but still...

The keys didn't fare too well either, we just have more resources to rebuild... think they have police or national guard at every village in the lower keys to protect/validate id before allowing reentry.

Thanks for the updates! I am leaving for Stone Harbor on Thursday for my annual beachfront vacation. I hoping to see some new structure instead of the flat beach, but wish no harm to the folks of Cape May County

No one is taking it seriously at this point, but the Euro model actually has Jose circling back after it passes well off our coast, and possibly coming *back* to interact with NJ!

At any rate, I think you'll find some structure, as there were solid 6'-ers in yesterday and we're supposed to get 10' surf this week.

I have goals for this week...my "Grand Illusion"; no one suffers damage; beach gets some good structure back; not bad enough to warrant beach fill next spring; not asking for much

..as usual I feel this storm in my bones .knee, back & arms , a lot of NY,NJ, Fema , red cross , special operations personnel are deployed in Texas & Florida Georgia & the Carolina's , everyone should just be prepared here .

We installed a Generac Generator 20k ( runs on NG ) when we loose power no worries in 15 seconds it turns on . It will run as long as we have Natural Gas. Its payed it self off many times over , it runs the whole house & AC ,Heating also

down here in SJ we did better; the turn east by Jose helped us; winds not as bad or as steady and rain came in short squalls; our beach does not appear to have been really hurt; hope Mother N just put some cuts, holes and bars back where they belong; hope the rest of you did OK
