Yes def cover up out there!!! good news is melanoma is treated quite successfully now with Keytruda obviously if caught early enough! But why risk it!! Anyhow here is my report:

Saturday- Made it out around 8AM and shot straight into NY waters. 3 keepers on first drift all around 19-19.5 in. Left another 3 shorts there as well... Headed into NJ waters and picked up shorts here and there but no keepers. Around 1PM winds turned and bay got snotty so headed back to dock and called it a day

Sunday- Headed out again into NY waters and 2nd drift landed 2 keepers and no more after that. Headed back into NJ waters and ended up false hooking a cow nose ray whom i fought for about 40 minutes or so. Got it within a ft of boat and my bud missed netting- one final run off and snapped my line. I hung it up after that! i was exhausteddd.

Hope weather hold up for weekend. Want to enjoy my last 2 weeks before I leave for vacation!

Because of Saturday's unstable forecast, I decided not to enter into any of the fluke tourneys.

Had a couple guys drop out at the end for different reasons so we sailed with just Dan (BenGardner) and myself.

The plan was to have a nice relaxing day of fluking in the bay if the weather allowed.

We left the dock around 8:30 after the rain had passed and tried fishing in the bay for an hour but it was just too dirty. Moved out to the ocean and found a good fluke bite immediately.

Got our two man fluke limit and called it a day...really wish I had brought some crabs with me to do some togging.

Great Looking fish JB! Inspiring to know they are still around. I have always noticed how much darker and larger the fluke in the deeper water tend to be.

Holy Mackerel

The black sea bass infestation continues...easily getting our limit of 8 bigger ones and releasing a ton of smaller keepers.

Fluking was ok with lots of shorts but only 3 keepers.

Spent a bunch of time on anchor playing catch and release with blackfish. Nothing over 4# on this drop but plenty of action w/light tackle and jigs.

Bonus triggerfish who self-identified as a blackfish.

Moco. Dawn patrol. West winds flat clean water with gentle swell and little current. Three ten inch short flat ones on the high low rig with white swirly tail while using casting outfit. No bait observed, but dolphins pods in the distance about 500 yards offshore. Back at it tomorrow.

Moco 12p-3p. Out front with a southeast wind that steadily increased. Choppy clean water. Caught several shorts while dealing with many plastic cutting snappers in the surf.

A little on the slower side today but still big filet bags and even bigger smiles all around!

OhXboy did the sarcasm ran deep on today's trip - a ton of laughter all around which sometimes reminds you its not always about "catching" and more about just getting out there.

Nice fish JB!

Thumbs up Re: July & August Fishing Reports 2017

Was a man on a mission today to bring home some snappers for the table. First 3 spots produced little to no success. At spot #4 i planned on trying in some deeper water. Was about to pick up and try another spot, then I thought let me take a cast to my left and try in the shallower side where I was "positive" nothing good would happen. There was no sign of snapper feeding, no splashes or jumps. Wouldn't you know, nonstop snapper action on the zapper
