So much sand has moved north, combined with the strong North wind today, this Navy Captain couldn't risk coming in to NWS Earl while navigating SH channel with his tanker unassisted. He had three large tugs waiting for him. Two kept him off the rip , while the third pushed from the stern. The dredge will be next.

Nice pics, yes, a lot of sand has moved in. Instead of counting to 20 before hitting bottom on the incoming, I was bouncing at 10.

Hey guys, i figured this would be the right forum to post this. For the past few years I've only surfcasted on staten island and lets face it its mediocre at best in the fall, i really want to start fishing the new jersey surf specifically sandy hook any guidance on where to park and what stretches of beach I'm able to fish on would be much appreciated

p.s. I'm not asking for any secret spots or anything i really just want to know where i can fish there since I've never been there before. thanks

Durning the day, in the fall any of the ocean lots will attract fish at one time or another. A,b,c, fishing beach, north beach. A night fishing pass is needed from 8pm to 6am. Do The Speed Limit, watch for deer on the road at night. The river has a strong current and a drop off, watch your step. There's a lot to learn out there, it takes time, I started fishing there 50 years ago, I'am still learning.

What Bay said! My Dad was discharged from the Army after Korea from Fort Hancock. When I was little he would pack up the car with my mom and my five bros and sis's and leave SI to take us to "The Hook" He told us stories on the ride down about his time out there. When we got to the beach they all went swimming, while I took off with my trusty Mitchell 304 and orange garcia rod. Caught my first fluke from the beach when I was ten at what is now lot C. So much history and fish to be caught out there. The storms uncover many hidden stories from under the sand. You never know what you will find or can catch. Enjoy.

Is there a daily or weekend fishing pass available...I'd like to go sometime, but one season permit for IBSP shoots my retirement budget

I believe this is the 3rd or 4th fall in a row now.X

I honestly believe they wait to dredge it every year until the fall run is just about to start.
