Fished Sunday 5am to 8am...Northernish/Centralish MoCo. One short striper (24") on a Mullet Suspending Storm Shad. Fish hit right alongside a jetty about a poles length away. Thought I had gotten snagged in the jetty at first. Nice healthy fish though. Didn't see any other signs of life. Also tried bombers, Thex, and my first rigged sluggo just to see how it looked/worked in the water.

Because I had some clams left over and because Momma was babysitting up North so I was alone, I decided to catch the high....and outgoing at IBSP last night.
Stopped and got a couple of bunkers "just in case"....got 1st line in at 7:00PM...

Nothing but NON-STOP doggies and skates ......until bunker and clams were gone at 2:00AM...even went to a single hook on the hi-lo to avoid doubles....

BUT......It sure felt great being there....
a couple of examples....

bOb....ski

Caught my first bass of the season this morning in NoOcCo. All of 23" caught on a clam...but its good to hear of some happenings in the surf. A guy set up about 150' away from me and within a half hour he had a accumulated a garbage grand slam. I might head out again tomorrow.

And btw, the water was really cold.

Sun early am plugged Northern Raritan no bass, but when dawns early light came out had great action on a spoon and topwater (poppers) w the blues who were simply ravishing the bunker. Dunked a few chunks after the all the mayhem (to see if a striper cleanup crew would come along) but nada. Great day out.

Just got back from a very wet day at the hook. Wound up with 2 blues 5 & 3lbs., & 1 striper 26" on a clam. Blues were a little picky but they were there. Got them on metal. I thought the rain was supposed to let up in the afternoon. Oh well I gave up after 6 hrs.

tight lines

Fished Manasquan Inlet from the kayak tonight from 5 - 8pm. Birds all over the place. They were on some small bait... I didn't get a good look at it, but definitely not bunker. I was throwing shads, bombers, and a bucktail tipped with a white GULP jerk shad. It was my first time using gulp. I have heard people complain about the smell, but compared to my usual bucket of dead clams, it really isn't bad. I wish they were a bit more flexible, kind of like Fin-S. Anyway, I didn't catch a thing. Not even a bite. Didn't see anyone else catching, but I can't speak for the guys on the end of the jetty as I didn't go out that far.

North end of LBI from 530-9. No bass but all the cocktail blues you wanted. I probably picked up a dozen or so all on a T Hex ( 3oz ) and an Ava ( A27 ) with a yellow tube. Not a bad night out either. I saw a couple of big fish landed down the beach but they made it back into the drink so I don't know if they were keepers or not, maybe they were blues. I tried some lipped swimmers and top waters as well. Forget about the paddle tails, the blues just shredded them. This was me looking across the inlet at the north jetty, .................. ..............Wrong place wrong time! 33hemi!

Chunked from 9p-2a all quiet but expectation still runs high based on intel. Lots of bunker and bass just south of us (me?), will keep working towards a fatty!
