Re: Flounder hooks
Yes, Winter Flounder. Black backs, Yellow tails(?)
- 10 to 20 feet deep
- chum bag with crushed clams
- mud, sandy or gravel bottoms
- flowing tide
I've never done this type of fishing, and I'm betting the fish are there.
Usually I'm in search of the striper whose population I'm told is surging in the area of southern Maine, but they've not been that easy to find in years past. There are also tinker mackerel in abundance which I've caught for entertainment, quick grilling or bait.
I think that there might be flounder in the cove 50 feet out my back door. I'm also thinking that there are probably black sea bass and maybe even fluke to be found in the deeper water, 20 to 50 feet, just outside the cove. The place I go is on the peninsula 16 miles below Rockland.
Does anyone know these waters at all?
