getting excited to return to the beach in two weeks; still having fun with Fla bass; so many little lakes and ponds and they all have fish; new one today; lots of whack and landed a couple on frogs before the wind shut it down

He might be on to something since at my age I'm usually thinking about going to bed right after Jeopardy

Moco: Afternoon shift in the back with the tide at mid drop and a slight south wind which flattened the bay. I was on the fly testing an intermediate line near a small tidal creek. No bait or gamefish, observed or caught, but I made some fantastic casts with a half and half in basic white. As I was leaving the evening shift was arriving with the enthusiasm required!!

Plugging in RB question:
For glider and lesser swimming plugs, are they worked slowly or in any particular way?
Same with mag darter and such surface plugs - slow, medium, faster or what?

Joseph, depends on the glider, easy to get hung up in RB especially with heavier sinking gliders. Many gliders provide their own "S" action so a steady retrieve is the ticket but a twitch or stop every now and then doesn't hurt.

For MD's yes all of those- slow, medium, faster or what , even stopping. One night I watched Bayyaker retrieve his md so slow I thought for sure he had fallen asleep .
Early spring slow with a twitch or stop every now and then is the way to go.

Visited RB on kayak yesterday from 6.30 AM to 3pm...it was rough in the morning...low tide, 15 mph gusts NE wind with swells and absence of the fish. Waste of time for the first couple of hours...but then as the tide came in and the outgoing started the fish-finder started showing fish...caught over 25 shorts in 22-26" range with one keeper of 30"...they were hitting the most x-rap but plastic and even teasers caught their share...long day but worth it...Ej Bill, when are you going to be ready to launch this season?

Thanks Don, I'm getting a little revved up because I'm setting up an afternoon / evening visit to the RB for Tuesday. It'll be my first time ever there for a high tide in the evening.

In a sushi fish shop in Brooklyn today.... Perhaps this is how I should finance my tackle... Looking to get out to the Hook next week. Hope everyone's lines are tight!

Out this afternoon outfront for the dropping tide, threw the bag without a tap the hard south wind was cranking 15-20. I always say, 15 to 20 in your face is the place, but I wasn?t driving to Brooklyn

Moco RB: Evening shift with a dropping tide. I waded a distance on the flats on the fly until dark.
There was a slight wind from the SW which kept the surface calm for a good distance, but no bait or gamefish observed. Beautiful weather and the bay is warming up nicely. I was in light weight uninsulated waders which kept me comfortable. Several kayakers reported that it was quiet also.

winding up my largemouth efforts; one on first cast with a popper today; switched to light green frog; 9-10 nice whacks, hooked about 8 and landed 6; been fun getting back to some freshwater action but the beach is calling; will be there at dawn the 25th; great reports from all and looking forward to seeing some familiar faces at dawn real soon
