Got out yesterday evening, hoping for Shaaahk. A couple of other anglers were staying later also looking for toothy ones, but nothing doing up til 7:30PM when I had to leave.

Caught a bunch of kingfish and an 8" snapper blue. One king was a keeper.

Had gone out earlier and netted mullet which are now in the freezer for later this month when the cocktail/tailor blues come in (hopefully).

Beautiful night out, nice sunset.

Out yesterday for a few hrs. Managed 1 fluke My excuse there were billions of spearing in the wash, hard for a gulp to compete with that. I did get slammed on the bottom with a good runoff, was thinking/hoping a big weakie until it got unbuttoned. and this was with the 5"glow mullet.

for the past month, I've fished incoming, outgoing, high, low, early morning, late afternoon, & night. With the exception of one small blue, I have nothing to show for it. My point: I could be all wet with this theory, but, I washed an old rag, that I keep with me, with pine-XXX. I put the rag back with my gear. Could I have contaminated my fishing gear with the strong smell of Pine???? I rarely post, but, am 67 years old & fished the NJ beaches since I was a pup.

Could be, Art. You may need a bunker oil, or some other scent, antidote.

Nomoco Today 9A-5p, Covered a lot of area. Plenty of spearing and the snappers getting big enough to ruin all your plastic or gulp. Fished a 3/4oz banana jig with hand tied spearing imitation teaser. Three shorts at 17 inches on the teaser only. YD

Caught my first Kingfish of the year on Sept 1, wound up with about a dozen. Water is almost 80 degrees, hope the Kings stay in the surf for a few more weeks.
We usually see the mullet start pouring out of the bay with the full moon late in Sept, first week of Oct, the last few years the Mullet have been almost non existent.

Let's hope things line up right and the migration hits when those mullet and peanuts pour out. I got fingers and toes crossed.

it might be good for North Jersey, down south the timing of the mullet and the predators is not all that well synced up.

however, IF we get sandeels like we did a few years ago, it can be a very interesting Fall (and very few down here knew how to fish with them around )

Got out today from 5-8, met up with Faceplant. Nice to finally meet you we had a steady bite, or should I say the blackflies had a steady bite I did manage to pick two short fluke out of the suds. Tried testing the waters on the way out for some weakies or whatever might like a rattletrap, no takers. Face, hope you picked up a vampire fluke or two when that sun went down
