Glad someone else said it. I've been following the NJ reports since I moved to FL 3 years ago. Might as well call this site striper boat. At least the gator blues are still giving surf guys a reason to keep going so don't knock em!
I've never really fished off a boat so this might sound like sour grapes but catching bass off a boat in my opinion holds very little excitement.

Keep burying the structure and bass will never hang around inshore.
Bury the sand eels and leave no food.
What do we expect

We used to have some wrecks inside my harbor that guys could catch tog from. Perfect for kayakers, tin boats - even rubber rafts. Awesome alternative during bad weather.

After Sandy the National Parks Department decided they needed to "clean out" the harbor.

They removed all the wrecked boats - no more toggies

Because boats on the bottom in 20' of water are a navigational hazard

Moco Noon outgoing tide. WSW wind and a clean surface with waist high swell and almost clear water. I made my way to the edge and then realized my Abu wouldn't come out of free spool:head scratch: I made the trek back to the rig and grabbed the fly rod, since that was the only spare I had with me. Returned to the edge, and really wished I could reach the outer bar which looked awesome with the birds occasionally diving as they paralleled the wave breaks. Forced to fish the closest pool I worked it slow for an hour with no strikes on a yellow and white clouser. Switched to another homemade fly with no luck, then switched to a bronze colored clouser and was able to catch a big sea robin and then a nice flat one. Fluke was a keeper but is among the swimming since my tape measure was in my other surf bag. The bronze clouser resembles a shrimp to my eyes and Ibelieve that was the ticket. I wish I could have stayed longer and worked that pool more thoroughly.

I wrap a piece of tape 18 inches south of my rod tip. I use it in a pinch, or if my hands are too busy to pull my tape from my bag.

The beach I fish down south was not good all Spring. Usual mornings would see 6-20 bass every day with 15-25 lbers on a regular basis. This year a ton of schoolies and very few bigger than about 30 in with the bigger ones very random. They did fill our beach and it is flat as a pancake. Can walk to the end of our jetty at low tide. Thank you to the big blues that did arrive and stay to keep us happy. Have to wait for Mother Nature to work all year and give us our beach structure back. I'm going up to Long Branch next Sunday and work my way down to IBSP to see if that helps

I'm taking my son to IBSP this afternoon for a pre- Father's Day trip. We'll fish the beach in the PM and move to the bay to catch the evening high tide, then head home.
I'll report tomorrow morning. Cheers!

Its trolling I can't take, what's the point of just being a winch . I rather try bait or lures and get the skunk over catching a fish in on the troll.

Your reports were an inspiration to read all spring. Did you keep a total count of fish caught?
