A quick update on my short visit to OBX last week...

The 2 of us fished real hard on 12/28 & 29/99 at Oregon Inlet and Cape Point... We landed about a dozen Stripers...26" to 37". The big fish weighed 19# and took a fish head... Most caught on bait, but we did manage a few on lures at Oregon Inlet.

At Cape Point on Wednesday morning a very lucky fisherman hooked and landed a 30#+ Striper. He was lucky because the fish took his bait at dawn while the fellow was snoozing in his truck... The fish ran a good distance with line as apparently the fellow had set the drag lightly. Anyway my fishing partner sees the fisherman’s rod “dancing some” and runs over to the truck to wake the guy up... It took this fellow for ever to wake up, get out of the truck and grab his rod. Anyway, he eventually landed the fish and thanked us... He said that he was almost spooled when he first grabbed his rod...
