Well that only took 2 hours and a lot of useless cropping.

hey, I caught my first striped bass ever on a self tied fly that looked similar

blue is a good color Joseph, no joke.

remember, nothing under water looks the same as on land, and secondly, we don't really know how fish see our offerings anyway, though we guess based on performance!

the color story is so amazing; some days it's only one color that works; then we have the "match the hatch/bait" approach and yet we know how effective pink is..."pink baitfish"; we can't try too hard to figure it out....it will give you a headache

Season finale in western Long Island sound on kayak...Thursday 7am to 4pm... 3 kayaks...in search for bass and tog...water 50F...air temp 32 to 50F...very choppy in the morning...when wind started around 8am ( it was not in the forecast) from NE large waves were generated and the fishing was impossible... I was hiding for almost 2 hours behind an island until wind subsided...around noon it was like a glass..incredible.
Blackfish bite was slow and some locations that were great earlier in the month yielded 0 bites...somehow manage 3 shorts with one almost making 16" but not quite...in meantime to break the boredom I would cast here in there for bass...caught a double bass in one of the coves...and lost another one
At the end it was still fun being out there on the water

As I say. Sometimes if you’re very quiet you can hear them laughing at us

No fish...I feeling kinda blue....

Cast metal and teaser for an hour at the bottom of the tide in Belmar. Damn but it looked fishy!

I'm not done yet.
