Default MY BUILD #3 Almost there

After 6 hrs of winding (rainy day) the wraps are done.
Next weekend will epoxy the wraps.

Looks good Joe. Are you going to combine all the colors for the butt wrap? Joe.

Nope Joe, With the exception of epoxying the wraps, the winding is done. The red butt wrap on this one, lets say, was a "learning " experience

My next project, 10' bait rod, is already in planning...but, will be put off for a winter project next winter.

All in all, it really is not that hard to roll your own. Tought part for me was determining the spine which, many say now, is not that important.

The easy pink fix is just to spool up the reel with some pink Fireline

My current project is redoing a boat rod. Ihave painted the white blank a mettalic blue and I'm waiting for that to dry. This one will be a Roberts wrap attempt! Joe.

Pictures man, pictures.

I have been reading allot about painting blanks, would like to make a candy apple red one, and talked to a friend of mine in a body shop, he can get his hands on the right type of paint. Should be interesting.

Just thinking and I would not do it again, another hard part was doing a black under-wrap on the black blank. These eyes just are not like they used to be. Stronger glasses next time.

Joe, I used Tamika model paint stirred into one part of lite build epoxy. After mixing, I added the 2nd part of the flex coat. Let dry, and do a 2nd coat. Last year, I did my wifes rod a bright pink. So far, no dings or chips. I also did a black on black but for the 2nd coat of epoxy, I added glitter to the mix, eliminating any chance of seeing a screwup! Joe.

Brush applied and the rod rotates for 6-9 hrs on a dryer.
