Been a while since I've seen big blues in the surf. Big from the sand or rocks down here seems to be about 5 lbs. Or so. A rare bigger one.

We have our usual September snappers running...in October.

Wait, what?

Out for a few hrs this afternoon, I had 4 shorts and 1 keeper, unfortunately they were fluke the keep was 21 inches 2 on a kastmaster and 3 on one of my teasers. They were feasting on bay anchovy?s right at the lip.And one hickory shad. The water was still stained with that 15-20 wind. Lots of guys waiting for Albert to show.

Yes, the back bays here had seen a couple of years of large, this year sporadic, but seems we dont get very large blues in the fall.

the mullet were so thick here I was looking for the telltale splashes of big flat ones in the surf (and by that I mean, on the flat surf here, in the past they will actually setup on the flat wash, not just at a berm and you can see when the mullet or other bait get ambushed... at times), but being near high, "the lip" was out too deep and my fly never came across any. surf was active with a lot of bird activity, dolphin out deep, ft. long snappers everywhere, just never ran into stripes.

Rob, the other night I watched fluke in the shallows launching out of the water chase the bay anchovy?s. Tried a sinker/teaser combo, putting the sinker on the dropper and trail the teaser. I picked up one fluke. I have also caught bass this way. It?s my way of fly fishing

It looks like some cool weather and good tides coming this week. I'm going to try to make a run to either IBSP or the Hook on Thursday I believe depending on the winds. I'm encouraged by word that the bays are seeing more striper activity. Years past this time of year I've had a great time in the back throwing bucktails and surface plugs. Now I've got some gliders I'd love to try.
Hot d*mn!

Fished from 12-430pm no bass but all the cocktail blues you could want. Seagulls were everywhere chasing rain fish snagged two of them and then after touching them not thinking I ate a sandwich before washing my hands, now I?m convinced I?m going to get the bird flu. lol
