JBarbosa, when do you sleep? I am such a sissy! I get all whiney if I don't get my 8 hours.

Moco outfront 3PM Outgoing from the top. south east wind with knee to thigh high rollers.
I was on the fly, but the SE wind began building, but I was able to cover a mile stretch of beach with a white clouser. The water was clean and clear with a nice lip to the trough.
No strikes or bait observed

Paul, I need some salt experience with the fly rod. I have a st Croix Rio Santos 9? 8wt with a Billy Pate Bonefish reel, also a Hardy 9? 9wt Proaxis with a Orvis Hydros V. You got a lot of patients . My Canada fishing is way different then fishing the surf.

Re: May & June 2018 Fishing Reports
I fished outfront OC yesterday, a couple of hours on each side of the PM high tide. Most folks were soaking clams &/or bunker. Didn't see many fish caught by anybody near me. I got a few nice hits, but my circle hooks weren't doing their job. I also tossed a bucktail, but to no avail. My buddy caught an UGLY stargazer on a clam. Anyway, it was a beautiful beach day. We're going back to try again on Thursday.

Sounds like anthropocentric criticism to me, and besides, there ain't such a thing as a pretty one.

Jim, You are good to go with those set ups....and all those teasers (flys!) you have been making will do the trick. They are superb. Last year I got a large flat one on an ugly clouser, in our usual haunts. Great fun but it was before the opener so off he went! I tried to repeat the event this year but no luck. Paul

Re: May & June 2018 Fishing Reports
Jim, The rod I'm using I bought in the 90s. It's a 9' Sage 8wt with a Scientific Anglers 7/8L, with an intermediate line. I have a ten weight Loomis but its overkill. I go back and forth with the round reels and casting rods depending on the wind, weather, and traffic behind my backcast!

Re: May & June 2018 Fishing Reports
If anyone is interested in putting on a Fly Fishing in the Surf clinic, I would be happy to attend. I have been sitting on a new 9 weight for 2 seasons, and have yet to get it wet.

Re: May & June 2018 Fishing Reports
Out back yesterday w/ the 7 wt. Beautiful day, 1 blue landed and a striped one swirled at my fly right at my feet and missed. Of course as I wasn't paying attention and lifting the fly out of the water, when he swiped at it, nice tail splash however. Seen a few blues and a short caught on plugs, very slow overall, but great to be out.

Re: May & June 2018 Fishing Reports
There are more than a few fly anglers fishing at the junction of the Navesink and the Shrewsbury. Perhaps some of those anglers might see your post and chime in.
