Inshore water temps have absolutely spiked the past week. I was due for a bad trip (Insert more excuses here)

If you're going to get skunked on the BFT grounds might as well get back to the dock before anyone realizes you even left.

60knots on the way back in...

Moco Outfront in the afternoon to sunset. Outgoing tide with a WNW wind with knee to waist high clean swell and flat texture. The moon and the stars were aligned as the thunderstorms cleared the swimming beaches opening up a nice hole, I don't usually get to fish during the swimming season. I was using light casting gear with a hammered spoon and pink clouser with plastic eyes. I caught several large sea robins, a stargazer, 15 short fluke, with one at 19" I switched to a banana bucktail and the action continued but mostly still on clouser teaser. As the sun dropped I switched out to the mag darter and teaser. I caught 5 short striped ones, that took the teaser and not the mag darter As I was letting one go I felt I was being watched.... and I was!

I included a photo of what a nice hole on a beautiful evening outfront looks like to me.

Nice outing yesterday...breezy, less humid...beautiful...spent Sunday morning on kayak in RB in hunt for fluke...caught 6 keepers in 19-20" range with 30+ shorts...big surprise was 0 sea robins caught for the first time..mostly, fish were in 25-35 ft of depth...the most action happened during slack low tide..very enjoyable morning

Moco: Outfront late morning. The tide was on the drain and the wind was from the West. There was knee high swell and clear as gin water. The cow nosed rays were everywhere in packs and gangs and I had to avoid hooking one on my eight weight fly rod. Also running the trough were numerous rat sized striped ones looking for mole crabs. I made several attempts to cast a home made mole crab fly in front of them. After over an hour I realized I had to get my profile lower so as not to spook them before the cast. Finally hooked and landed one on the fly. I took a victory lap and headed back to pavement, as the wind shifted to the South and the swell and tide began to build. That South wind tends to make a fly wiz past my ear on a forward cast! Here is what good trough loaded with rays looks like at low tide

Nice work YD

You learn to cast lefty or cast backwards real quick in those crosswinds.

I was on the boat Sunday and only got 3 keeper fluke - very disappointing number of keepers for us - no shortage of shorts.

Porgy schools 20ft thick in 30ft of water

Nice...Do you think that those cow nosed rays scare away bass and/or fluke?
