Nice idea paul, when the snappers were making my gulp tailless, I left the body on and added a otter tail and let them chew away, I think I caught 1/2 doz yesterday on that.

JC,
I found them at Wally World in the fishing section. It was last year or so. They come in yellow (small) and Orange. They keep pre tied rigs and such readily available and tangle free,Here is a link for the orange on EBay.

... and how much line between the float stop and the barrel swivel / leader and hook?
How deep are you floating your bait?

Sea Bright surf this A.M.
Dolphins were about 60 to 80 yards off the beach and I tossed a one ounce Hopkins Shorty with a dressed hook and a metal leader a little past the breakers. Instant hit and was happy to see a 20 inch rat striper when I got it on the beach. After tossing it back, birds appeared from everywhere and 10 to 12 inch snappers were in the surf. Lots of fun, fished until the dressed hook was 'undressed' and kept two for lunch. Actually kept three but a seagull got it before I could get back to it.

I keep adjusting. Yesterday the cloth bobber stop was one turn around the reel spool when the bobber was at the tip of the 101/2 foot salmon rod I was using. If u clip a 1/4 ounce dipsey sinker to the snap swivel along with the loop from the leader and circle hook it keeps the snapper down and towing the float around. Something is up when the bobber goes in the opposite direction of the tide flow or stops moving, before it goes under, especially with the shorter flat ones.

I was even able to subdue this cownose Ray with the 7? mojo inshore rated 3/4 oz 2500 sustain with 10lb braid. It was like a Nantucket sleigh ride up and down the beach.

Moco Outfront Afternoon on the outgoing. NE wind and a choppy surface with knee high swell. Worked a long stretch of sand with casting gear and a high low rig armed with plastic with no luck,..... so I followed a flock of plovers to Killer B country, and switched out into the float rig tipped with a strip of robin belly. In short order caught half a dozen 17 1/2 inch flat ones and one good fat 20 incher.

that is true... the only time I've caught them on that light a setup was on the boat... and for that .. have to follow them around for quite a while before having a chance to unhook.
