Thanks, you saved me a trip. I wait a few days.

Me too. I'm feeling work pressure anyway, so an excuse to hold off is welcome.

Question: What do you think of activity on the Hook at this time of year?

I would love to make that my likely last hurrah for the season just for the beauty of the place. I'd be even happier if I believed there were maybe fish to be caught. I sort of figure that if there are short stripers anywhere they'd be hanging around that tip where the tide brings them a smorgasbord. I'd throw a bucktail and maybe an Ava.

My last 3 trips to the hook were skunks. I moved further south and had some success. Gonna try SS, SSP area for sundown later today. Small sand eel imitator has been working. I use a 3/8 oz sinker at the top of my leader to assure my lure is dragging the bottom

A friend of mine had a shorty at the hook on Monday but he said he was getting a lot of little bumps. I would imagine small fish are still around.
He was on the North Beach throwing small diamond jigs.

I have my annual December 28th (my birthday trip) weather permitting , that's how I usually in my year but I am usually way South this late into the season aroud Lavallette and the park
This year I might just stay north / local at the hook as the only reports down there have been shorts as well

Beautiful morning in the Long Branch area ((I don't think we have to worry about spot burning at this point) 2 dinks at dawn and saw 3 others caught.

Fished IBSP 7 AM to 10 AM. Ocean was flat & calm. My brother-in-law got one short & I got the skunk. We fished teaser/metal rigs. Beautiful sunrise to start the day. I stopped at the office & got my 2019 MSF permit. I'm done for this year. Hopefully 2019 brings everyone some great fishing. Stay healthy & happy. Enjoy your holidays.

Got a late start, didn't get on the beach 'til 7:30. One fat little football and a beautiful morning.

Merry Christmas!

(.. and the only way I could catch smallet fish next year is to catch none at all )
