Default Fish Patterns for early October - NJ area?

Do any of you have logs about patterns of fish by surf, inshore and offshore for this time of year? If so, how do you correlate the current conditions with previous years?

I read somewhere that the bluefish are still schooled up off shore in "their summer patterns" and one thing I seem to have noticed is fewer bigger blues in the Raritan this year for the same time period.

I know that some bait movement has already happened on schedule but a lot of what I think of as summer species are in the bay right now... my impression is more than "normal" whatever "normal" is....

My logs only go back a few years, and I haven't hit bass in the same spots/times as previous years (yet), just curious about what you NJ (even Staten Island area, NY) folks think.
