Ces *won't* be signed in NY. DeGrom is still learning, unfortunately against a red hot team. I still wouldn't give him an A... maybe a B or B+ for effort He was having trouble getting his ball down, and because of that couldn't find an out pitch. Evidence was as soon as Niese came in, he stretched the zone low and the ump gave it to him.

So, the season, barring a complete mental collapse by KC, is over, except for playing out the next few games. BUT it was a G R E A T season and the base is there for a strong run, with perhaps another couple of WS appearances thrown in.

1986

Mets lose Game 1 by 1 run.
Mets lose Game 2 by 6 runs.
Mets win World Series.

2015

Mets lose Game 1 by 1 run.
Mets lose Game 2 by 6 runs.
Mets win World Series.

sure, the precedent is there.

But I see these KC Royals as a better team than the '86 sox

That said, if KC implodes in the next game, and it *has* to be the next game, anything is possible.

If I preferred the Kansas City strip to the New York strip I could, but won't, mention that 29 years after the Royals won in 1985 they lost in 7 and this is the Mets' 29th year. The ump's first base call in that series was worse than the "Here comes Knight and the Mets win it." call of 1986.

LOL... to be honest I can't remember that series too well just sitting here.

Remember, I'm only a 59 year old "young-un"

Kinda remember the two things you mention, but will look up later for a refresher!

Hey, Arod was on Fallon last night... and he was rooting for the Mets.

Just gave the encouragement that "anything can happen"

With Uribe active I thought they would rest Wright after the 7th to give him a break.

Rob, the '85 Series was the one where the ump called the Royals hitter safe at first when he was out by 10 feet. Cardinals nearly walked off the field in protest with the commish in the stands. The Knight reference was a positive on the Mookie grounder. Both plays were Game 6 that saved elimination. I think the ump's call was worse than the Buckner play, but Buckner can't watch a World Series without hearing his name mentioned.

Now that I mentioned Buckner, nearly everyone forgets he was a very good player. Won a batting title one year. Everybody knows the picture of Yogi running toward the fence after the Maz HR in '60. The Dodger left fielder who climbed the fence for Aaron's 715th was Bill Buckner.

For the stats guys : The winner of Game 3 has won the World Series 65 percent of the time -- 72 of 110 times in history.

We know " Thor " is young & I like the " Chin music " on the 1st batter ....but he has to keep things to himself ( public statement ) tricks up his sleeve ?

in the 6th Collins keeping him in ...a lot of confidence !

Buckner was a good ballplayer... Bob, you have a good memory as I didn't remember Buckner being on the Dodgers at all.

As to the 6th, I don't think Collins had confidence in anyone *else* for the 6th, even in that situation
