Exclamation Help build the ultimate PC...

Here's the challenge, using only components readily available from a well known company such as newegg.com each person selects a component for the Uber PC.

I'm first so I'm picking the case which you will all have to work with.....

LIAN LI PC-V1200Aplus II Silver Aluminum ATX Mid Tower Computer Case
Cost $229.99 Mfg's Web site: http://www.lian-li.com/

Newegg details: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16811112065

eek Re: Help build the ultimate PC...

Now I know why you call yourself Crazyboy!

Reading the reviews on Newegg we might have to upgrade to Lian Li's full sized tower version of the V series case to allow room for a big CPU heatsink to dissipate the heat this thing generates plus thinking ahead about a monster Video card and other PCI devices.

Thumbs up Re: Help build the ultimate PC...

That's a no brainer, got to have at least one 30 inch LCD monitor! Actually two would be very nice, they are only $1,500 each!
Kind of like Al Gore only he has three! We have to switch to the bigger case, the video card the 30" LCD requires is a monster.

We are talking ultimate here....

Nothing but Liquid cooled and conservatively overclocked will do.

Thanks Steve we'll take your donation and we'll back it up with Linux.

Those liquid cooled systems make me nervous. Most manufacturers use cheapo PVC hose and really cheap hose connections. They should really use SS braided teflon hose with swaged fittings on the heatsink end.

Jess, all your suggestions are rejected! Only 2 MB RAM? Must have 4 MB!

After all this is supposed to be the Uber PC.

I dont know squat from building computers, But dont you have some knowledge about rubber and it's uses for different applications? Think back to the Mid East... If you wanted to go that route (LCS), I'm sure you could figure out something that would work...

Good memory Rags! Teflon hose with stainless steel braid is the ticket for any high end item where heat is a factor, especially external and internal.

Of course we could use "bullet sealing hose" like they use on B52's, choppers and tanks but that would get kind of bulky, it has a distinct odor and costs mucho, mucho dinero!

I am by no means computer savvy, but I think my TI calculator has more than 4MB of RAM. I would go for maybe 4GB for the ultimate computer...

But it's the "Ultimate"! Money should be no object! As far as the odor, make a seperate exhaust system to vent the odor out of the room. I'll leave the rest of the other stuff to those who know what they are talking about...

One thing that is usually an afterthought is the power supply.
Ran across this site berfore I built my last one.

http://www.journeysystems.com/?powercalc

Get the best you can. The latest from some manufacturers have modular cable sets and you only plug in the amount you need. Makes for a cleaner system. Also SATA HDs.
