Get a dog. Turkeys hate dogs.

Done right through springtime calling turkey hunting is the funnest thing with clothes on. I prefer that over even deer hunting in fall. But you do what tradition and regs require.

My wife just roasted a pheasant and boiled a second one for soup. With extra meat left she whipped up a pheasant pate which is eaten cold on a cracker. Include your fav beverage -- Scotch in our case.

Jess I've been using these for years. They work great.

The only problem I every have is when I forget to shut them off when I mow the lawn.

The level of road kill is skyrocketing due to the oncoming rut.

The spot we are hunting we are not seeing any deer but the roadkill level, right where we hunt, Is climbing. Jokingly my wife and I are saying, "hurry up and shoot one before it gets hit by a car."

That is pretty much a standard woman response. Anti gun, anti hunting, anti kill. We all are products of our exposures. I was a senior in high school before I learned that everybody didn't hunt and fish. Growing up I saw my Pa and brother going hunting with the dogs and when I turned eleven I went also. A lot of families develop that way and if you don't have any socialization along those lines, you don't learn to shoot and hunt. City people are also less likely to hunt and/or fish. In one's everyday life we hunters get a lot of anti-hunting sentiment, even get used to it. "How can you kill an animal?"

Some very smart Republican lawmaker from Bergen County NJ wants to control the deer population in their community . Suggestions were / are to capture the deer & release them in the golf course & have the registered deer hunters have an open limit .

By the way, is it just me or everyone around my parts uses thermal rifle scope? It just makes things so much easier.

Bunch of things: the scope is the only thing legal in your suggestions. And the prices of the scopes are way too high. My wife and I use $200 scopes; the ones you listed are $2,000.

Baiting is against the law in all the states I know of and RI just banned urine based scents because of concerns over spreading chronic wasting disease (CWD). Again, let me remind you that New England does not have the deer overpopulation found in Jersey and PA. Big difference. Down your way people select the deer they want; here you take whatever you happen to see. My wife and have not seen a deer yet after a week of hunting. Common situation. Still, I appreciate your input on this thread and value your suggestions/remarks. Come by more often. We need more guys posting.

HOWELL ? A township woman was lucky to escape a collision with a deer on Monday morning without suffering serious injuries as the animal went through the windshield and into her backseat.

a friend who worked for the parkway told me of an individual who died when a buck came through the windshield and he was struck by an antler directly in his chest.

The way allot of cars are deigned today it's easier for deer to end up on the hood and go through the windshield.
Over the years I've had 6 deer related accidents and on two occasions the ran into the side of my car with one putting its head through the driver side window.
