Hey, I'm new to all this and I have a few questions. I'm taking the boat down the Kennebec River in a couple weeks and I'm pretty clueless. I'm going from Gardiner to the ocean. What kind of bait should I use? I know I could ask around in the bait shops but I'd rather be prepared. Is river fishing for stripers different than ocean fishing for them? I'd just like to know what to do in general! I could really use the help. Thanks.

TUBE AND WORMS RIGS. THE BAITSHOP WILL SELL THEM. A GUY ON BROWN STREET IN KENNEBUNKPORT MAKES THEM AND SELLS THEM OUT OF HIS GARAGE. THEY COME IN ALL COLORS BUT TRY RED, NOT TO BIG, THEY ALSO COME IN DIFFERENT SIZES. THEY ARE TROLLED BEHIND YOUR BOAT. ASK SOMEONE WHAT SPEED AND DISTANCE. I JUST CAME BACK FROM MAINE DID REALLY WELL WITH CHUNK MACKEREL IN THE RIVER.

Was that the guy who has a bear skin on his house, up the block from Parson's Beach? I walked into that guy's garage last fall and thought I was in Sports Authority or something. I'm glad he's there, but I had to ask the owner of a fish market in Cape Porpoise for a tackle shop to find him. I don't think he advertises.
