I teach at the Sound School in New Haven (High School), and run an after school fishing program. In the off-season, we teach rod-building, fly tying, and I've been considering plug building. My administrators' main concerns are with lathes and safety. I've been told that a duplicator can automate things to the point where the students' hands are away from the dangerous moving parts. Is this feasible? If so, are there any small, relatively inexpensive lathes and duplicators that you'd recommend for this purpose?
