Default Workshop for newbies to surf fishing..BOW Surf Fishing Workshop

Just got the email. Saw a bunch of new people around in the last few days and wanted to give everyone a heads up! Pretty cool since the registration for the workshop includes registration for the Govenor's Tourney the next day and they'll let you use thier equipment for the tourney if you don't have your own!

The registration deadline for the Becoming an Outdoors-Woman Surf Fishing Workshop has been extended to September 23, 2005. This workshop is an excellent introduction to this great sport. Information follows:

Becoming and Outdoors-Woman - Surf Fishing Workshop Saturday October 1, 2005 Island Beach State Park South Seaside Park, NJ 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Held in conjunction with the
Governor's Surf Fishing Tournament on
Sunday, October 2, 2005

Get ready for the tournament! The Division of Fish & Wildlife will host a clinic for newcomers to surf fishing (men and women over 18 years old only). Instructors from the division, Island Beach State Park, Jersey Coast Anglers Association, Friends of Island Beach State Park, and local sporting goods stores will help you understand fish anatomy, biology, ecology, baits, fishing techniques and tackle, knots, regulations and how to read the surf. The workshop includes an indoor morning session, and an afternoon on the surf. All equipment is provided. The workshop will run rain or shine, so please dress accordingly. Participation in the tournament on Sunday is optional.

The Becoming an Outdoors-Woman
(http://www.njfishandwildlife.com/bowhome.htm) program is part of the Division of Fish & Wildlife's mission to educate the citizenry about natural resource management and responsible stewardship of renewable resources. The BOW program has introduced more than 2,500 participants to outdoor sports since 1995.

Workshop fee: $50.00 includes all equipment use, instruction and lunch.

An e-mail confirmation will be forwarded upon receipt of registration and payment. A written confirmation letter with directions to Island Beach State Park will be mailed before the event.

Surf fishing Tournament Registration: The workshop is held in conjunction with the Governor's Surf Fishing Tournament, held on Sunday, October 2, 2005. Registration for the tournament is included in this registration fee. There will also be a separate category of awards for all BOW workshop attendees who participate in the tournament. We will loan you equipment to use during the tournament, but there will not be instruction after Saturday's program.

Accommodations: A list of motels in the area will be supplied with your e-mail confirmation so that you may make your own arrangements to stay overnight (optional). Please make your arrangements as early as possible since this is a big weekend at Island Beach.

For more information please e-mail Linda Buono at linda.buono@dep.state.nj.us or call 908-735-6826 or if you would like to register for the shooting sports workshop, please visit our website at www.njfishandwildlife.com and click on the Becoming an Outdoors-Woman icon under the Education section to download a registration form.

Hmmmm, I'd never even thought about becoming an outdoors woman. Do you think I would have to buy new waders?

LOL... yeah, either pink or purple The funny thing is it's for outdoors women but it says this: "Division of Fish & Wildlife will host a clinic for newcomers to surf fishing (men and women over 18 years old only). "
