Default Jetty fishing a striper blitz in Avon(video)

This is a link to a video that two friends of mine created on a jetty in Avon during a striper blitz in May. One friend was fishing while the other taped the action. Most fish were caught by either snagging bunker or on plugs. This is a rare video to find about the local fishing & I think Andy did a great job capturing it on film. I think everyone left the beach very satisfied that day. My only regret is that I wasn't there Turn the volume up to hear the drag screaming in the beginning. Hope you all enjoy.

That was a great video but I am a little disturbed that no one was releasing any of them. Actually when he asked if anyone wanted his fish instead of releasing it, was a little ignorant.

I liked the guy down at the waters edge try to get a fish for some guy with lowtop sneakers on. Of course he doesn't slip and fall in.

I don't particularly know the guy who did that. It just happened to be someone in the video. I don't think it's terrible to give someone a fish who wasn't fortunate enough to catch one.

Looks like most guys fishing were driving past after work, somewhat unprepared. But that's opportunistic fishing, after all, it's a home video, not ESPN Outdoors

Some of you people will find something negative about anything, give it up.

There is nothing negative other than the fact that instead of throwing a fish back that he did not want he tried to give it away. If they are biting like that then I see no reason to try and harvest a fish if you do not want it. Giving it to someone who couldn't catch anything is not really the right thing to do. These are the same types of fisherman that take no time or effort to put blues back during a blitz, instead they kick them back in or leave them to die on the sand, because they aren't stripers. Whether you like it or not that menatlity is very common on the beaches of NJ. I saw a guy on the north jetty limit out on weakies and then walked back to his buggy and put them in the cooler and came right back out for another 14. When asked why he was back after he limited out he said his wife caught those and these are his. Nice right he kept 14 weak fish, for what. why..... seems kinda of ignorant and selfish in my mind not to mention the fact that he is and was a regular in IBSP. When we have no fish or the population drops suddenly then we have no one to blame but ourselves, can't blame that crap on the commercial guys. Ignorance is what it is and no excuses can be made to cover it up.
Like I said it would have been a truely great example of striper fishing in NJ if that last bit was edited out or did not happen.

Do not worry there is always someone who has to make a comment. When you actually do not know the outcome, assumptions are made by ignorant people.

If you watch the video to the end the outcome is clear, the guy in the white shirt/white boots walked down the jetty with two fish and then walked back out to the end with one, passing the other guy. I fished north of casino pier on a christmas eve day a few years back and landed 5 bass over 20lbs, released them all. I have seen one after another bluefish tossed in the sand or kicked several times till they hit the water time and time again, I have seen guys over load on fish using their kids as "anglers" so they could keep more than two bass and I have turned them in. I guess blitz's not being as often as they used too means that we kill all them till none are left on the bait? Maybe its just me, I have lived my whole life in and around fishing and IBSP and its really not a big deal to catch a big bass and release it for me, I guess the "been there done that" statment comes into play. After 30years plus on IBSP and a permit for the last twenty years I have seen the full gambit. Still I would have released before I gave it away, the fish would have been my hard won victory and they can get theirs.
