Rob, if Jose hangs around and makes a u-turn later in the week and Maria comes up, could we have a jersey "Perfect Storm".

No one is formally thinking that but who knows, the way this season is going!

There is no solution where Jose and Maria could "combine" BUT if Jose remains intact then it COULD help steer Maria closer to the coast

so far, Maria looks like a similar track as Jose, perhaps just "bigger"

every dang run of Maria makes it look worse for our area (of course, that's nothing compared to how PR is being desolated today )

Hurricane Maria cuts power to entire island of Puerto Rico Hurricane Maria knocked out power to every electricity customer in Puerto Rico on Wednesday, the governor's office said, as the monster storm lashed the economically strained U.S. territory, ripping roofs off buildings and flooding homes.
After making landfall early Wednesday, Maria — the strongest storm to hit the island since 1928 — had weakened to a Category 3 hurricane with 115 mph winds by around 2 p.m. ET. Intense flooding was reported across the territory, especially in the capital of San Juan, where many residential streets looked like rivers.
"Half of San Juan is flooded at this point," San Juan Mayor Carmen Yul?n Cruz told MSNBC, adding that the devastation in her city was unlike any she had ever seen.
"We're looking at four to six months without electricity" in Puerto Rico, home to nearly 3.5 million people, she added.

Well the last two runs have been moving Jose remnants out ahead of Maria and Maria staying further off the coast! So perhaps the ocean fron will settle down by next week after all, maybe !

It's all about timing whether the low grabs and sends Maria out to sea, or if a High (edit: or any front) moves in and steers it toward land.

The slow down occurring muddies the waters up

So this is the most hurricane energy in the Atlantic Hurrican season ever recorded.

Rip currents and rough surf are going to continue for the foreseeable future down here (with our coast oriented in the line of fire)

So, I gots to get out back for some action
